Confirmation

Confirmation is the rite where a young person or adult 'confirms' and affirms the faith into which they were baptized. It involves a period of instruction in the Christian faith and life and then a public ceremony where the person confesses their faith in the Triune God. For young people in the Lutheran Church this usually takes place around the end of primary school or early High School. Classes are weekly for about a year. The instruction is based on Martin Luther's Small Catechism.
